I found this picture today of Alan and me a long, long time ago.  It’s fun to see it next to my kids in the same costumes.  Enjoy!

Flashback Friday

I know it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these.  I was looking for one today of me screaming (or someone screaming) because that’s all I have heard in my house for the past week.  Today is especially bad.  It’s 12:30 and Ashton already woke up from his nap and won’t go back to sleep.  I think I’m going to go insane.  Or maybe I already am.  Either way, you get this picture.

I think Fridays come too fast so I forget to post.  Anyway, you get two flashbacks today.  My mind has been on missions lately, since Taylor’s brother, Denver, just got his call to INDIA!  In honor of him, I’m posting two pictures from my mission.  I realize that they’re not much of a flashback to those of you who haven’t seen me since then, but I also realize that it was ten years ago.  And that’s a long time.

This is literally the frozen white north. I was standing on the frozen Lake Simcoe.

How can you live in Canada for 10 years and not know how to curl? You can't.

In case you’re wondering, those books are our “guitars.”  It was only those specific books that could double as guitars.  Don’t ask me why.

Here it is, Friday, and I’m remembering to post my flashback.  I love this picture.  It typifies a summer day in my backyard when I was young.

This is for all of you who keep bugging me about my Flashback Friday posts.  I forgot.  For 2 weeks in a row.  Sorry.  So you get it today.  It’s almost Sunday.  And you’ll probably be disappointed.  I love this one, though, because you can see how fabulous our garden was when we lived in Alberta.  And it’s probably the only picture you’ll ever see of me in a bikini.  That’s gotta be worth something, eh?

I forgot my Friday post last week.  I remembered on Saturday.  And I don’t mean Saturday at midnight because it was new years.  I mean the next day, sometime after I got up.  Plus, I wasn’t up until midnight to remember anything like that.  Anyway, today’s picture is one of some of us about to go for a ride in “Uncle” Paul’s airplane.  To the far left is my cousin, Michelle.  I have no idea who’s sitting next to her.  Then there’s Alan, me, and Wayne (Michelle’s brother).  We used to have so much fun with those cousins until we moved to California (they lived in Alberta).  Sometimes I wish we would have been able to see more of the Henrie side growing up, but I guess that just makes the time we did spend together all the more precious.

This picture was taken on Christmas eve of 1999.  That Christmas was soon after Alan returned from his mission, and a few months before Kenton and I left.  Little did we know that it would be the last one with all of us single and together.  We decided to have some fun that night and all sleep in the same room.  Somehow Jana’s room was the chosen room.  It happened to be right at the top of the stairs and there wasn’t a door.  We took a mattress from the boys room and propped it up as a door.  We goofed off for a bit.  Kenton thought it would be funny to fall off the top bunk.  He was right.  Then he jumped on the mattress and slammed it down onto the floor at the top of the stairs.  Everybody hopped on and I gave it a shove.  Maybe we were just all hopped up on egg nog, but it was hilarious.  My parents were wrapping presents, as they were always doing on Christmas eve.  My dad came out of his room to see what all the commotion was about.  I was sitting at the top of the stairs, in tears because I was laughing so hard, and everybody else ran and hid under the kitchen table.  This picture shows how much sleep we got that night.  My parents assured us that Santa wouldn’t come if we didn’t get to bed.  He came anyway, but I don’t think any of us (except maybe Brittany) were up at the crack of dawn that Christmas morning.

I love how everybody's pretending to sleep except Kenton. And Alan's snoring.

Christmas 1982?

Flashback Friday

Christmas 1980?  I see a lot of resemblance between me at this age and Ashton.  I noticed in some other, more revealing (bath) shots that he got my body.  Yes, I was a chunk.  Except my belly was bigger than his.  Other than that, he looks almost exactly like me.
