Getting Crafty

Posted on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 at 12:39 pm

I saw a tutorial a long time ago for a dress for a little girl made from one of her daddy’s old button-up shirts.  I thought it was such a cute idea and I really wanted to make one of my own.  So I started saving Taylor’s shirts.  I finished my first dress yesterday using this tutorial and you can bet I’ll be making more.  I’m excited about the options I can explore with this idea.  And I have a lot of shirts to work with, as I’ve been collecting Taylor’s and I just got a few from his brother the other day.

That’s very cool! I hope she likes wearing them unlike the last dress you made for her :) . That’s also a cool picture with her holding the dandelion to match the…what do you call it…belt?

That is AWESOME! I’ve seen some tutorials for dresses out of men’s shirts…but they were all jumpers and not nearly as cute as that! I’d love to get the link. You did a great job! Just think of all the cute summer dresses she’ll have…although you guys have nice weather year around :)

Don’t I feel silly. When you posted about this one facebook and I said something about having a friend who does that, I didn’t realize it was HER tutorial! This looks great! Be sure to add it to her flickr group, she loves seeing whatever does! :-)

Wish I had a GIRL so I could make one of these beauties! So cute!!! Also, isn’t it funny how kids perceive bugs differently? James HATES flies too! When we were painting our place last year, we had to go to the Home Depot to get the colors mixed. He was screaming the entire time because of “the flies!” But he LOVES butterflies. And bees.
    So weird!

Oh my gosh! I’m in love with this!!! I watched the tutorial, even though I don’t have a girl yet. I’m wondering if I can do a variation for the little man. Hmmm. Jumper maybe? We’ll see.

    Thanks for the fun ideas!
