First Food

first foodAshton is five months old today.  Sometimes I can’t believe how the time has flown and other times I can’t remember life without him.  In the last couple of weeks he has gotten so much bigger.  Especially his head.  I guess he’s growing a big brain in there.  London had a big head too and she’s the smartest almost-four-year-old I know.  Anyway, since the little guy seems to always be hungry, I thought it would be appropriate to start him on some solid foods.  He’s a pretty messy eater.  I’ve given up on keeping him dressed while he eats.  Now he gets to sit in his Bumbo with just a diaper on.  When he’s done, he goes straight to the bath.  For some reason, he always thinks he needs something in his mouth.  Usually he’s stuffing some part of his hand in there.  This becomes particularly problematic when he’s eating, thus the mess.  We started out with rice cereal, but to curb the constipation I’ve slowed down on the rice and have been giving him prunes.  Hopefully they’ll kick in soon.  He seems to like them but can’t take down much at a time.  I think this little big guy isn’t going to be little for long.
